Future closures
The expected road closures are as follows:
Cambrian Road will be closed from Borrisokane Road to the intersection of Apolune Street and Elevation Road in both directions.
Southbound movements at Cambrian Road and Apolune Street/Elevation Road will be restricted with no ability to cross the intersection southbound until approximately July 25 due to work within the intersection
There will be two weekend closures at the Borrisokane and Cambrian roads intersection during the transition of work from Cambrian Road to Borrisokane Road.
When Cambrian Road reopens in late August, Borrisokane Road southbound will close to traffic and remain closed until November 2025. Northbound traffic will be maintained.
Project Context
What
This project will construct a row of purge wells at the Trail Waste Facility to collect and convey groundwater through 2.1 kilometers-long twin forcemains to the existing sanitary sewer system. This will allow the groundwater to be conveyed to the ROPEC wastewater treatment facility for treatment. As part of this work, portions of Cambrian Road and Borrisokane Road southbound will need to be closed to traffic.
Why
The road closure is required for the safety of the residents and workers.
Where
The construction will require the following road closures:
Cambrian Road will be closed in both directions from Borrisokane Road to the Apolune Street/Elevation Road intersection
North/south movements at Cambrian Road and Apolune Street/Elevation Road will also be impacted
Borrisokane Road will be closed to southbound traffic between Cambrian Road and Haiku Street. Northbound traffic will be maintained.
When
Construction begins the week of June 30 with the closure of Cambrian Road between Borrisokane Road and Apolune Street/Elevation Road. Cambrian Road is expected to reopen in late August.
Following the Cambrian Road closure, Borrisokane Road southbound will close to traffic and remain closed until November 2025. The scheduled closures may be modified as needed, for example if weather affects the schedule, or if conditions change.
Who
The City of Ottawa has retained the contractor, Thomas Cavanagh Construction Ltd, to complete the work.
Traffic management
Signage will be installed along Borrisokane Road, Cambrian Road and neighbouring streets to indicate the road closures and lane impacts. A traffic detour will be signed and will be adjusted as construction within the Cambrian Road and Apolune Street/Elevation Road intersection and the Cambrian Road and Borrisokane Road intersection progresses.
Work within the Cambrian Road and Borrisokane Road intersection will occur over two weekends during the summer, impacting through traffic on Borrisokane Road.
Construction disruptions
The contractor will take every precaution to minimize interruptions to the everyday life of your family. As you can appreciate, there may be some inconvenience during the course of the work, such as traffic delays, noise and dust. You may also feel vibrations due to heavy equipment operations. Vibrations from construction activities are quite common and rarely cause any problems. We would like to thank you for your patience and co-operation. For construction activity hours of work, the City of Ottawa follows provincial requirements and the City’s Noise By-law (2017-255). Hours of work are expected to be Monday to Friday from 7 am to approximately 10 pm. There is also the possibility of overnight work if the scheduled work is affected by weather.
