In Regency-era England, women could not inherit property. Consequently, after their father’s untimely death, the Dashwood sisters are left without a home. Their half-brother has inherited their beloved Norland Park, and they must move to the countryside, penniless. Gossiping townsfolk weave the tale: Elinor, the sensible one, has fallen for Mr. Edward Ferrars, the wealthy and gentle brother of her sister-in-law. Unfortunately, he always seems to be just out of her reach. Marianne, the sensitive one, finds herself the object of affection of two different men, but which will she choose? The safe or the scandalous? Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters as they navigate love, loss, and sisterhood amidst the stifling societal pressures of the 1790s.
