You are invited to review project information and provide feedback for the Barnsdale Road Environmental Assessment study. As part of the consultation process, study materials and a feedback survey are provided online for public review at your convenience. This is a self-guided, web-based consultation.

The Project

Barnsdale Road is a two-lane road that carries traffic east-west between Manotick and Richmond. The City of Ottawa has initiated an Environmental Assessment (EA) study to plan for future improvements to Barnsdale Road between Highway 416 and Prince of Wales Drive, including the potential need for future widening to four lanes. This project will ensure the road corridor is protected as development continues to grow rapidly along the north side of Barnsdale Road.

The EA study will:

• Investigate opportunities to improve Barnsdale Road for all modes (pedestrians, cyclists, transit, cars, trucks)

• Identify interim and ultimate design configurations for Barnsdale Road that meet existing and future mobility needs and support the new interchange at Highway 416

• Establish the right-of-way required to protect the land for future widening

• Develop a phased implementation plan with associated cost estimates

• Consult with the public, landowners, Indigenous communities and stakeholders throughout the study process.

Study Process

Two public consultation events will be held as part of this study. An Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared at the completion of the EA study process and will be available for a 30-day public review and comment period.
