Thursday evening was the Barrhaven West Community Association Summit. I was able to give a bit of a ‘state of the union’ and then for us to have a healthy and productive discussion on: The Barrhaven Civic Centre, Greenbank Realignment, Barnsdale Interchange, Traffic Safety in and around schools and collectors, vehicle thefts (including my recent meetings with Ottawa Police and Industry), the two new dog parks coming to Ward 3 by Longfields at the new Jock River North Park, and one in the triangle between the rail tracks, Mckenna Casey Road and Strandherd. These new resources will allow for dog owners on both the West and East sides to walk and play with their dogs more freely. We also discussed the urban boundary expansion and developments, zoning bylaw amendments to the new Official Plan, active transit options, sound attenuation, the Ottawa City Councillor’s caroling video and many other pieces. One agreement that we had is that we will sustain this bi-annual event and likely expand it to include our business community representation, Lions, Rotary, and Seniors. It was certainly informative to me, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for them and for you.
