Following up with City staff on parking compliance during snowstorms

Also at EPPS committee, I was able to raise questions and concerns to staff about illegal dumping and the bylaw response to this growing issue. Thanks to an earlier inquiry I’d submitted, the committee was informed that we’ve seen a significant increase in reported cases of illegal dumping last year, both before and after the implementation of the new three garbage can limit. It’s clear to me that we need some changes in how we investigate and punish illegal dumping, starting with harsher fines for perpetrators. Staff will be bringing a report with recommendations to that effect in Q2 of this year. I will continue to work with Bylaw to make sure this issue is given the attention it needs.
