The council meeting this week was really important and I was heavily involved in a number of aspects. My motion regarding vehicle crime passed and as a result, there will be a series of engagements between the city and province to advance our shared policy interests regarding vehicle thefts, stunt racing and illegal exhaust modifications. We actually saw our first provincial response to my motion on the same day it passed with a supportive statement from new MPP George Darouze in Queen’s Park. You can watch that here. I am also optimistic that we will see a VIN registration programme implemented that will make it easier to crack down on stolen vehicle resales within Ontario. I will be sure to keep you updated as I continue to advocate for solutions to stunt racing and vehicle thefts. And right on time, the first #ResidentsMatter operation also happened this past week – see my Facebook post for the details. Great stuff OPS!

Meeting with the Solicitor General (Newsletter: April 25, 2025)
This week, I also met with Ontario's Solicitor General, Michael Kerzner, along with MPP George Darouze and Councillor Devine after our unanimous motion regarding vehicle crime. We discussed highway traffic act amendments for general deterrence, technology to target excessive vehicle noise and improving our administration through VIN verification. A great first engagement on this important issue and indicative of the good will of our provincial counterparts to work with us on issues of collective importance.
