Updates
⚠️ Construction held due to provincial legislative developments
While the contract for the speed camera has not been cancelled, construction of the physical pole/camera will be on hold until legislative changes are clearly outlined/understood. This applies for ASE cameras under construction citywide.
Traffic impacts
During construction there will be minor traffic impacts, with traffic flaggers controlling flow and a sidewalk closure and minor detour implemented while work is occurring.

Timing details
From city staff: once the contract has been awarded to a successful contractor the goal would be to complete all necessary infrastructure works at River Run site prior to September. This would then allow the subsequent camera installation contractor (coordinated by traffic) to install and activate the new device, once the power infrastructure works associated with the project is complete.
Speed camera announced (June 9, 2025)
I have a big update for residents concerned about speeding on River Run: an Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) camera will be coming shortly to Half Moon Bay Public School, with notice signs up shortly and installation to take place in the months ahead. This will also automatically make River Run in that area a community Safety Zone, doubling the penalty for speeding.
I know many residents of River Run have concerns about speeding by regular traffic; in addition to making the school area safer for students, this camera will also act as a traffic mitigation measure for a busy neighborhood street.
