On the evening of July 25, Traffic Escort Unit officers monitored a number of known locations for nuisance car gatherings such as Orleans (Innes/Tenth Line), Gloucester (Innes/Cyrville), Trainyards, Barrhaven, and Merivale/Meadowlands, to name a few.
Earlier that evening, NRT West and OPP attended a large car gathering (200+ vehicles) at College Square, where the participants were asked to leave the property. Most participants left without issue.
The following charges were laid by the Traffic Escort Unit:
· Speeding x7
· Red Light – Fail To Stop x1
· No Currently Validated Permit x2
· Obstruct Plate x1
· Fail To Surrender Licence x1
· Fail To Display Two Plates x1
One driver blew a "Warn" on the Approved Screening Device (ASD) and was issued a 7-day licence suspension.
A 39-year-old was charged with "Stunt Drive" for doing 117km/h in a posted 60km/h zone on Merivale Rd. near Colonnade Rd.
This was the driver's 2nd offence.
His licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
