Geyser Place, formerly Branch St. Phase 2, is the second and final development phase for the property acquired by Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCHC) to develop affordable housing.

The site is located in the Barrhaven West neighbourhood, bordered by Jockvale Road, Bending Way, Branch Street, and a future multi-use pathway (MUP) adjacent to the Jock River.

The project intends to provide 117 family homes, including studio, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes.

More information can be found here.

Updates

This affordable housing is place to be in the area near future transit expansion, commercial area, and city services (Civic centre) for neighborhood walkability.

Housing approved (July 16, 2025)

The Planning and Housing Committee today approved development applications that promise new affordable and below-market rental housing in Barrhaven and Overbrook.

In Barrhaven, the Committee approved a zoning amendment that would facilitate development of 117 affordable housing units, southwest of Jockvale Road and Bending Way. Ottawa Community Housing Corporation plans to build a nine-storey, 99-unit apartment building, as well as a three-storey stacked-townhouse building with another 18 units. This would be the second phase of a larger development, and a wide range of unit sizes is proposed, including 28 units with at least three bedrooms to better accommodate larger families. Overall, 20 per cent of units would be accessible.

Meeting with OCH - development update (May 5, 2025)

This week I met with Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) to hear an update on their Branch St development. OCH shared their plans for the continuation of the development and their Site Plan submission is being prepared for the City for reviews and approvals. This is an important next step and I am glad to see OCH continue making progress. The Branch Street Development remains active, and residents can expect to see work resuming on site in the weeks and months ahead. Permanent housing remains an important part of addressing our city’s needs, and I’m glad to see this project advancing. I know that community consultation was a concern when this project was first announced so please, to anyone that has any concerns or desire for more information, reach out to me and I would be happy to walk you through the plan as best I understand it. There is also work being done to get a community consultation session so residents can learn more.
