Barrhaven West Newsletter: August 18, 2023
If you want to hear and participate in the latest on transit in this city, tune in on August 30th at 5 o'clock. I will be hosting a telephone town hall with Councillor Wilson Lo where we will be discussing all manner of Barrhaven transit, from the BRT versus LRT debate, to recent shut downs, to wheel rebuilds, to local bussing. If you are interested, you can sign up HERE and I will send you a reminder. I very much want to hear your voice and inform you of my research and knowledge based on the latest information from city staff, technical experts and other stakeholders. I look forward to chatting with you on this so that we can improve the current state of our city transit system.
Barrhaven West Newsletter: September 2, 2023
The highlight this past week was the joint telephone town hall that Councillor Lo and I co-hosted for Barrhaven. I am so appreciative that over three thousand local residents took the time to participate, as we had some great questions and received solid feedback that will both shape and reinforce our transit commission function going into the fall legislative session. Key topics discussed included: The transit budget, local bus routes and the route review process, safety and reliability of the LRT, phase three LRT vs BRT as a next transit investment option, the connection between the greenbank realignment and transit improvements for half moon bay and many others. If you are interested in more depth on these topics, I encourage you to listen here to Wilson and my conversation with Alan Neal from the CBC. We will be posting a recording of the actual teleconference on my website early next week. As always, if you want to represent a concern or idea on this topic, just reply to this email with the subject ‘transit’ and we will follow up online, by phone, or in person over a coffee. The more data points that we have, the better we can make our case to city staff!
