Updates

April 2024

As mentioned in the previous communication, the existing pool filtration system has reached the end of its life and is needing replacement. As part of this project, a new filtration system including a sand filter, UV filters, and related pump will be installed to meet current guidelines and code requirements. The community center and rinks will remain open in the building and are not directly impacted by the project.

At this time and in order for the work to be completed on schedule, the project start date has now been shifted to May 25, 2024, and will run through until July 14, 2024. We apologize for the inconvenience this change may have on you.

Staff have already begun work to revise the changes made for the original start date. Learn to swim programming and aquatic club rentals will be ending as of May 24, 2024, and returning to Walter Baker for the Summer 2024 season (July 15, 2024). Our team will be reaching out to clients and staff in the coming weeks to communicate these changes and provide any additional follow up.

Renovations were originally scheduled to begin in Fall of 2023, but that has since been postponed to June of 2024. More details will be given closer to that date.

The City of Ottawa apologizes for the inconvenience this change may have on the community. Their procurement department has informed them that there continues to be supply chain issues. Inconsistencies with respect to communications from suppliers on equipment and product availability are impacting many City construction projects.

They appreciate your patience and understanding and more information on this project will be available shortly.
