Community Association 'State of the Union' - Summer 2023

Barrhaven West Newsletter: July 28, 2023

This week I was able to hold a number of very successful local meetings.  One was with our five community associations where we were able to get aligned on a bit of a ‘state of the union’ regarding current development files and applications, transit/transportation planning, community events and safety.  This was my first opportunity and it will become a regular occurrence such that the representation and advocation of these community groups are well understood by my office in order to help me represent our community within the City.  As a result of this meeting I will be hosting several upcoming meetings to discuss some local development applications and considerations for our transit system.  I will have more specifics in my next newsletter.  I was also able to have a number of solid engagements with local stakeholders regarding the future of the Barrhaven Civic Centre.  Although there are many pieces that need to be ironed out, I think we are getting close to a point where the design concept and land acquisition can progress.  I will hold a public engagement session on this once I am confident that all of the right city processes are aligned.
