Earlier this month, I hosted Mayor Sutcliffe to talk about a major investment in Budget 2025 - the Barrhaven Civic Centre. We have the funding and policy authority, and now are in the process of acquiring the land. Next steps are the detailed design, environmental assessment and community engagement. Stay tuned as we progress through the next phase of the project!
I also brought Mayor Mark Sutcliffe to Marketplace station to speak to transit riders about the New Ways To Bus. It is important for both of us to hear directly from you about the new experiences. As a result of that, I was able to speak to the bus planning director and represent two additional issues: the significant gap between the night-time local series (around 5:15am) and the initial morning peak series ( around 6:30am) - which impacts folks that need to start their day downtown early, as well as the delayed 275s from Tunneys pasture in the afternoon peak. I will be reaffirming these at the next transit committee meeting.
